Dear Sir,

Request for  information under Federal Right for Access to Information Act 2017, Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act 2016 and

Article 19A of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

  1. We as members of “Citizens for Equal Rights” deeply appreciate the positive and early response of the CAA in raising the salaries of all janitorial staff at Jinnah Airport to Rs.15,000 and giving them their increased salary by cheques on the 19th of March 2019.  Prima facie, implementing the law of minimum wages, you have benefitted hundreds of down-trodden and exploited individuals who perform janitorial tasks for CAA.

  1. Further to our original request dated 6 Feb 2019, seeking information under Federal Right for Access to Information Act 2017, the Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act 2016 and Article 19A of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, we would like to state the following:
  2. The Information and records requested vide our original request dated 6 February 2019 have still not been provided to us. Please note that by depriving the citizens of their Right to Information, you continue to violate the laws of RTI, as well as the Constitution of Pakistan.

  1. Kindly provide information that confirms that CAA has applied the minimum wages rule to all its janitorial staff working at all CAA airports and offices of Pakistan.

  1. According to the Sindh Minimum Wage Notification of 8 October 2018, the minimum wages for all workers employed in industrial / commercial undertakings in Sindh province have been raised to Rs.16200 per month. Therefore, the raising of janitors salary at the Jinnah Airport to Rs.15,000 still falls short of the minimum legal wage requirements of the Sindh province.    We would therefore request you to please immediately raise their wage to Rs.16200 and also provide information on why has this not been done so far.

Please provide the information / records requested in Para 2 a, b and c within 10 working days and also ensure that the information is correct, certified and the copy is a true copy of the original record.

Sincerely,

Naeem Sadiq,
