TTP Talks : Does Pakistan know what it is getting into?
November 13, 2021

Dr, Shahid Rasul,

Director,

Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre, Karachi (JPMC)

Salam and Respects.

Thank you for your response and request for help.

The issue of wages to janitors and guards is simple and well covered by the existing laws.  It has also been explained a number of times to the senior staff of JPMC and hence one is surprised about their unwillingness and inability to comply with the law.   I would however restate the requirements  once again.

  1. Each janitor and guard performing 8 hr. duty must receive at least Rs.25,000 pm. Those performing 12 hr. duty every day must receive twice this amount.
  2. JPMC must also pay the 5 months arrears of the differential in the salary to its staff,  as the revised salary of Rs.25,000 is applicable from 1st July 2021.
  3. Every guard and janitor employed thru 3rd party or on a contract must be registered with EOBI and Social Security by individual’s name and CNIC.
  4. Every guard and janitor must be given an appointment letter which states the basic salary, EOBI, SESSI and conditions of employment.
  5. Salary must be paid directly by cheque or deposited in the individual’s bank account.

Kindly appreciate that you are a leading hospital of Pakistan and  you do not meet even a single requirement of the five  requirements stated above. This is exploitation, cruelty and lawlessness of the highest order.

Kindly take urgent action to fix the above 5 anomalies.  Kindly also confirm that the above actions  have been fully implemented.

Sincerely,

Naeem Sadiq
